Long Gone

Temporary alone or lonely.

I came to visit my aunt: not at home. Grandpa too. ‘He left to the market to buy something’ was my first thought.

‘They’re long gone’ was the second thought, and I’m not sure whether I woke up right before it or right after it.

They’re long gone. The house is long gone too.

My grandpa died almost 30 years ago.

That was an interesting realisation: the thing feels very different when you think that there’s someone who’d come back eventually. And when you realise there’s nobody to come back. They’re the opposite, even when the outside aspects are the same to the observer. It’s like being temporarily alone or dead lonely.
