The road not taken

New unique note, Obsidian named the menu. I’d prefer the new note to be the very same thing, but—

OK. Never mind.

Seen the article about a person migrating from Apple’s ecosystem to Linux, and so many things caught my eye!

An unusual, quite appealing visual look. Good job! A complex long storytelling. A nice, very photorealistic, illustration for that post. Astro, the static site generator, it’s fancy indeed. Omarchy, the popular now (among some people, apparently over consuming various media channels) Linux distribution flavour.

Oh, for ducks sake!

Remind me to find an appropriate screenshot of Jackson Lamb, please.

Hey, Siri!

I had a very long time of me … well, let’s say, taking some time off blogging. I wasn’t a true real blogger (or was I?) in what modern day world sees blogging as. Are all bloggers try to be appear as influencers?

I think I did too, a fair part of it. That’s one of the reasons, I think I’m not planning at having a Mastodon account or such, and I very much prefer having this tiny blog of mine.

During this time off of mine, many things happened. Life, mostly. I had plenty of time to think through things thoroughly.

And now I see me, two decades ago.

It’s difficult to comprehend the weight of this: two decades. Two. Decades!

That got me thinking: the road not taken, I love this poem so much.

Let me cite it right here:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

I remembered it, and thought: the road not taking might be just a conscious effort to not take this road, for some reason, whether you realise why or not.

I realised it takes quite an effort to not become an influencer indeed. It takes quite an effort to keep this blog design minimalistic. I made it less minimalistic already, quite recently. Yet I still stand by this design, and apart from many minuscule details (for which I’m too exhausted at this point in life), I like it. I’d call it a good job.

My blog, I could make it much more fancy, like the linked one. But, funny thing, these two decades made the mark: I think it’s actually much worse. You just need to scratch it here and there to see the paint peel easily.

The fucking slow and obese blog, are you not?

And reading just another pompous prick who tries to play an influencer is quite offensive, as if I’m their target audience.

I’m truly happy with consciously not taking some roads.

P.S. Upon re-reading this, I realised that I’d like to make a disclaimer that I meant a fancy blog like the one I mentioned, not the blog I mentioned. I have spent like a minute or two with that very blog. And that particular blog’s design is actually pretty impressive, and I do like it. I have no idea who the author is… and I’m not really interested. Yet, that very blog, it has so many AI-generated images in there, that they completely devalue everything else in that very blog. I wonder whether the author realises that or not. Makes me think: are you even a real person or just an experiment at making an impression, eh?

Also, I thought, that it was incorrect to actually compare this very blog of mine, which is a blog, meaning a place where I write and write only. (And speak too, sometimes. And I may add videos at some much later point.) There, they have it more like a resume/CV thing, so I have a similar blog like that, and it’s quite shittier than that one, if we’re here to compare. I may get some inspirations, but AI-generated images… eh, meh, pathetic. I a bit regret re-visiting that blog again, even. I didn’t think they have most of their images generated. It’s impressive how much that devalues the entire everything, huh. (Not my problem, though. Lol.)
