The article is framed negatively but I have a different view of this, at least over the long term.
AI is illustrating how much of the work that gets done in large organisations is performative or optical. Previously, if you saw a big fancy document it would be treated with respect whether or not it actually produced any useful outcome. Now, producing a big fancy document is easy - so the threshold for value is starting to change.
I consider this a good thing. I had an example of this the other day where a manager sent me a Google doc that was clearly generated by Claude explaining how his team would perform health checks on our customers. I immediately closed it and mentioned to a colleague how the document is worthless now, the results are all that matters and he’s going to have to demonstrate them. Whereas previously, I think it was a bit easier to spend time on this kind of busywork (well intentioned or not), AI is kind of forcing us to cut through it.

An interesting point of view.
