Today I finished one very old task of mine. I wasn’t doing it. Reasons for not doing the task included thinking I have not enough instruments to even start.
Recently, I created a unique (or maybe not, I have no idea, actually) very my system for managing tasks. It’s very similar to org-mode, but is markdown. My tasks are just regular notes. I invented two unique (I believe) things:
- Notes older than N days are automatically transferred out of the notes repository. So, most times I have ten to twenty notes.
- They are parsed and are rendered as a set of static websites.
This system allows me to focus on tasks, and not be drowned by the things I have completed already.
Also, it creates a great system for focusing on things, since tasks I chose to not do or postpone forever (one day, you know) are also taken away and rendered as separate projects.
And as a bonus, I think it’ll help me analyse things better, by exploring the rendered sites.
Since the system is new, I’m mostly enjoying the process of doing things. And I have one simple insight already. I’d dare to say that most of the tasks are postponed and not done not only because we’re lazy and not too willing to do things we ourselves set as the things we actually want to do. Many tasks are difficult to do, because it’s difficult to start them. That’s obvious, but maybe not too obvious. To start, there are notes done already.
