Marketing research finds, for instance, that when people are shown a drink along with happy faces that flit across a screen too rapidly to be registered consciously—but nonetheless are noticed by the bottom-up systems—they drink more than when those fleeting images are angry faces.

I’m not sure that works for everyone. If I’m no fan of drinking, and drinking is not associated with happy faces, but a bunch of fucking losers, I highly doubt I’d drink more. I just laugh at these fucking idiots who believe drinking is cool. It is not. So, I’d rather believe in the picture of sad angry fucking faces, than a happy family that drinks itself to death.
I speak alcohol here. Coca-Cola is in another league though. Fucking poison too, but I know too many people who don’t think it’s just another poison, and they’d happily drink it.
